Best Projector
Which is the best projector? That can be a difficult question for people. Because when it comes to your own home theater you want the best. What I found when I went on my search was that there are many different opinions on the subject that don’t necessarily agree with each other. Not to mention enough information to get you lost all over again. I saw sites that didn’t even recommend one of the same projectors as the next site. So I put together my own list of the most recommended projectors because no site named just one as the best.
Here is how I narrowed down a list of many and got my list of 12. I looked at 10 different sites some of them very highly respected sites and others just seem to be the typical website. Some recommended many projectors others just a few. Then I broke it down to the ones that where recommended by 3 or more sites. I’ll just give you the meat of everything and let you form your own opinion. Here is what I found
P.S. I used Amazon as another rating scale just because I’m sure most of you have heard of them and because they are a very trusted e-commerce site. I included the number of stars out of five there customers gave it, the number of reviews, the current price and the first paragraph of a quote by an actual reviewer/owner of the projector. Don’t forget that if you get a projector you probably also want to get a screen. Amazon also has a good recommendation for what ever projector your looking at. Remember some products may have been canceled or had a price change. I hope this helps you find what you looking for.

This home theatre projector is going to make a lot of converts this year and turn the projector market on its ear. There is nothing out there (at present) with this quality of picture for this low a price.

I saw this PJ in action last night. The source was a Sony BluRay DVD player and a BR pressing of Spiderman 2. The picture clarity was amazing. Rock solid image with (not surprisingly) incredible definition. I can’t, however give it 5 stars. Perhaps the colour calibration was not perfect (altough Sony reps were on hand so “their bad” if they set it up poorly) - in particular the reds were far too prominent.

InFocus Play Big IN72 DLP Projector

Holy cow this was a great purchase. I use a digital projector in my living room as my “tv”. When I went to replace my existing Infocus projector, I considered stepping up to the IN76. After all, the IN72 is just the current version of the model I already had, right? Well, ok, technically, that is true. But, wow is there a difference.
Optoma Home Theater HD70 Digital Project

I have owned an Optoma EP 719 XGA projector for about a year and find it an impressive unit for the price. However, when Optoma released the HD 70, a full 720p projector, for under $1000, I had to buy it. The projector is light, but substantially-constructed with a sturdy gloss white case. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the build.
Optoma MovieTime DV10

I recently decided to upgrade from my 42” inch HDTV Samsung to the Optoma Movie Time Projector, and I have to tell you I am a changed man. The clarity and size of the image is amazing, no distortion at all. The picture is as good if not better than my 42” incher. Unreal! After getting the projector I displayed the image on my wall since I hadn’t received the screen, I put Siderman in the DVD player and even on the wall the picture was perfect. After getting the 9 or 10 foot wide screen the following day the picture was even better, I was amazed considering the screen is dark grey in color. I now have the best of both worlds, a projector that produces 9 foot wide movies in pure digitial, and a 42 incher in the corner of the same room. Picture in Picture the old way!

Great projector, excellent image, superb lens-shift. The price could be lower. Otherwise nothing to complain about.
Panasonic PT-AX100U

Everyone that sees the picture this projector gives wants one. You’d expect to pay much more for this quality. The picture still looks great with the lights on and blinds open. Given the adjustability of the projector and the abilty to handle ambient light, this will work in a lot of homes other projectors might not be right for. And it looks great even on an inexpensive screen (Da-Lite HD Model B).

The PT-AE1000U LCD HD Proj 11000:1 1100 Lumens Hdmi Svid Rbg is a great unit. Excellent HD quality. We installed it ourselves - very easy with minimal handyman knowledge for the ceiling mount. Worked perfectly out of the box. We have since gone into some of the menu options and selected picture quality/brightness options that we preferred for our home theater. You’ll be very pleased with this unit.
MITSUBISHI HD1000U DLP Projector
5 out of 5 - 42 reviews - Price: was $999.99 now $914.99
By D. Shelton “tepui” (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
The Mitsubishi HD1000U produces an outstanding image that compares well against projectors costing quite a bit more. As a DLP projector, its black levels are superior to LCD projectors while the color accuracy is a bit off (though more than acceptable). My previous projector was an Infocus X1, a first-generation DLP model. The HD1000U produces a cleaner, higher-resolution image, that is noticeably brighter than the X1. In fact, the HD1000U is substantially brighter than many other home theater projectors on the market and will work well in a room with moderate ambient light. Mine is installed in a room with moderate ambient light from several large windows, and produces an adequate image in midday sun. With the window shades pulled, or at night, I have to run it in low lamp mode to avoid eye discomfort.

This is an incredible product. I had no idea that projector technology had come so far and at such an affordable price point. I was skeptical when I ordered the product, but I pointed it at a dark brown painted wall in a dark bedroom to test it and it delivered a movie theater quality picture, crisp and huge and unbelievably bright considering the background. I can’t imagine what it looks like on the proper screen. Also the speakers on the unit are good quality and more than adequate for viewing a DVD with the built-in player. Obviously, if you want a movie theater experience, hooking the product to surround sound is the way to go. And the throw is short. You’ll be surprised at how large a picture you can get at a relatively close distance from the projector.
